Jonie has always been drawn to the art of storytelling, whether through music, words, or the quiet act of observation.
As half of the folk duo Companion, she honed her craft alongside her twin sister, weaving intricate harmonies and tender narratives rooted in their Oklahoma upbringing. Now, stepping into her own as a solo artist, Jonie brings the same heartfelt honesty to a new chapter—one that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Her forthcoming debut solo album, recorded in Los Angeles, is the next step in that process. Inspired by artists like Adrianne Lenker, Madi Diaz, and Katie Gavin, Jonie’s sound sits somewhere between the warmth of Americana-folk and the catchiness of indie-pop—songs that feel as personal as a journal entry but catchy enough to sing at full volume in the car.
Over the years, Jonie has played well over 400 shows across nearly all 50 states, sharing stages with artists like Tori Amos, Andrew Bird, Buck Meek, Samantha Crain, Marty O’Reilly, Alexa Wildish (The Voice), and the Rainbow Girls.
Beyond music, Jonie is a relentless documenter of life. Writing has always been second nature; a way to make sense of the everyday monotony and occasional despair of a fairly regular day-to-day life.
Her songs are the earmarks of a person figuring it out in real time. They’re eager, honest, earnest, and hopeful. And if nothing else, they remind you that you’re not the only one still trying to find some meaning.
