Jonie brings the heart of Oklahoma folk to her new roots in LA, with a distinct emphasis on songwriting that feels at once lighthearted and fiercely vulnerable.

Her lyrics draw from the well of open-hearted honesty, humor, and community that defined her Midwestern upbringing, anchored in an intimate arrangement of fingerstyle guitar and close harmonies with longtime collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Adam Nash.

As half of the folk duo Companion, she honed her craft alongside her twin sister, weaving intricate harmonies and tender narratives rooted in their unconventional upbringing.

Jonie steps into her own as a solo artist with her forthcoming debut album, recorded in Los Angeles.

Inspired by the likes of Adrianne Lenker, Haley Heynderickx, Madi Diaz, and Katie Gavin, Jonie’s sound sits between Americana-folk and indie-pop, with lyrics as intimate as journal entries and melodies that call for singing at full volume in a moving car.

Over the years, Jonie has played well over 400 shows across nearly all 50 states, sharing stages with artists like Andrew Bird, Tori Amos, Buck Meek, Marty O’Reilly, the Rainbow Girls, Samantha Crain, and Alexa Wildish.

Beyond music, Jonie is a relentless documenter. Writing has always been second nature; a way to make sense of the everyday monotony and occasional despair of a fairly regular day-to-day life.

Her songs are the earmarks of a person figuring it out in real time. They’re eager, earnest, and a gentle reminder that you’re not the only one still trying to make sense of it all.
